Shopify: Barcode is invalid

The barcode column contains something that is not a valid GTIN, or the same barcode appears twice in the store.

How to fix it

  1. Check that each barcode is 8, 12, 13 or 14 digits with no spaces or hyphens.
  2. Verify the check digit; a single wrong digit makes it invalid.
  3. Search the store for a product already using that barcode.
  4. Leave Barcode empty for variants that genuinely have none.

How to avoid it next time

Validate barcodes at the source. One wrong check digit fails the whole row.
