Shopify import fix

Shopify: Image could not be downloaded

Shopify fetches image URLs itself during import. If the URL needs a login, has a space, or times out, the product imports without images.

How to fix it

  1. Make sure every Image Src starts with https:// and is publicly reachable.
  2. Remove spaces from URLs, or URL-encode them as %20.
  3. Use one URL per row, repeating the row for additional images with Image Position 2, 3, ...
  4. Test one URL in a private browser window before importing.

How to avoid it next time

Host images on a public CDN. Authentication and Shopify image import do not mix.

Catch these before the import runs

The free Shopify CSV checker names the exact line for each problem. The paid Rescue Kit adds 20 more error cases, a template in Shopify's column order, and the same checker as a script for your pipeline.
